Waters unquenching
My heart unrelenting
Continually clenching
Can’t seem to fill
Drinking sea water
Sun burning hotter
Dehydrated daughter
Ever Yours still
Trained to save lives
Yet I cannot save mine
Grasping for something
A part of me dies
It’s all on Your time
Gasping for oxygen
The sea has swallowed me
But it had before I dived in
This, the last thing I wanted to be-
So sweetly broken
But sin is a condition
But this fisherman keeps fishing
For men and not fishes
For silly people like me
Inconceivable
Incomprehensible
For I was a still born
And yet on that morn,
You said, “This one is mine.
I knew her before time.”
But dead men can’t walk
Nor can they talk
The best they can be are zombies
Nonsensical and ridiculous as jabberwockies
But this is a revolution
A purification of pollution
The greatest solution
The redemptive promise fulfilled
The greatest became the least
And beauty died for the beast
Love has saved us from our fall
For spring comes after death
The fall has fallen
Let us sing with each breath
Of the One who fulfilled every promise
For to kill death is a miracle
But this is hardly empirical
To say so would hardly scratch the surface…
